Oman Celebrates International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) 2022




The Medical Physics Unit at the Department of Radiology and Molecular Imaging in Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Center celebrated the International Medical Physics Day on the 7th of November. This was followed by the celebration of the World Radiology day on 8th November, which was also actively participated by the Medical Physics Unit, with the aim of building greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to providing safe patient care.
During the celebrations, Dr. Rashid Al-Sukaiti (Head of the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine) stated “Under the theme of this year (Aiming to Heal), this event hopes to alert the world to the amazing medical, scientific and even technical potential of medical imaging, and the essential role of radiology specialists in diagnosing and treating cancerous tumors and relieving pain.”
The Medical Physics Unit promoted awareness on electronic test on radiation protection to the phones of the Radiology and Molecular Imaging Department employees. A lecture on the uses and challenges of artificial intelligence in radiology and molecular imaging, in addition to educating the community and patients in the field of medical physics and the role and responsibilities of medical physicists
