Virtual Radiation Safety Officer Course for Medical Physicists




The Qatar Medical Physics Society (QaMPS) successfully conducted a  1 (day) virtual training course for radiation safety officers, mainly for physicists and physicists assistants,  the course took place on 26 September 2021.

Course presenter was Dr Ishmail Badr, Director of the Radiological Protection Centre, St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, UK.
 
The course provided basic training in the fundamentals of radiation safety rules and regulations.
 
The training concentrated on the practical aspects of radiation use in medical field covering all the modalities such as general X-ray, fluoroscopy, mammography, CT, PET - CT, nuclear medicine, dental etc.
 
Discussion took place between the instructor and participants about the new standards for radiation protection with comparison of regulations in different countries.
 
The interactive sessions were attended by 30 participants who have successfully passed the quiz offered at the end of the course for which they will be receiving certificates.
