​MEFOMP Steer Global Radiological Protection ICRP 2025 Symposium in Abu Dhabi




The Middle East Federation of Organizations of Medical Physics (MEFOMP) recently solidified its international leadership, affirming its commitment to global radiation safety standards. Dr. Hassan Kharita, MEFOMP President, and Dr. Zakiya Al Rahbi, MEFOMP Treasurer, played a crucial role as members of the program committee for the 8th International Symposium on the System of Radiological Protection ICRP 2025.

The prestigious, three-day event from October 7 to 9,2025, hosted by the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) in cooperation with the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), recently concluded in Abu Dhabi, serving as a major platform for high-level scientific exchange.

MEFOMP’s Pivotal Regional Role Endorsed

The Federation’s active participation on the global stage highlights its regional importance. MEFOMP is widely endorsed as the preeminent organization in the Middle East dedicated to elevating and standardizing radiation safety across the medical field.

The symposium was a resounding success, bringing together more than 600 experts, policymakers, and researchers from 55 countries.

This massive gathering reaffirmed Abu Dhabi’s standing as a global hub for advancing the science, ethics, and practical application of radiological protection. Through its contributions, MEFOMP ensured that the voice and specific needs of the Middle Eastern medical physics community were strongly represented on this critical world stage, helping shape the future of radiation safety for the region and beyond.
