Dr. Hassan Kharita from Qatar Medical Physics Society (QaMPS) is awarded with International Organization of Medical Physics (IOMP) FIOMP Membership 2021. This fellowship is being awarded to persons who have made outstanding contribution to IOMP and its local organizations over a significant period of time.
Dr. Kharita is currently the Secretary General of the Middle East Federation of Organization of Medical Physics (MEFOMP) 2018-2022. He is a member of the IOMP Regional Coordination Board (RCB). He was the Chairman of the website and newsletter committee in MEFOMP between 2015 and 2018. He was also one of the founding members of the (MEFOMP) in 2009 and the representative of Syria in MEFOMP 2009-2015.
Dr Kharita was Radiation Safety Consultant in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) between 2014 and 2015. He had vast experience with the IAEA as an expert in more than 35 missions to various countries in the world. Prior to that, he was the Head of Health Physics and Medical Physics Division and the Head of the Radiological and Nuclear Regulatory Office (the Regulatory Authority) in Syria.
Dr Kharita has greatly contributed to the promotion of medical physics and the recognition of medical physicists in Qatar as the vice president of Qatar Medical Physics Society (QaMPS). He has made significant contributions in medical physics on the regional level and the national level. He has several publications in the Medical Physics field.
