As part of technical coordination for Asian countries with IAEA, South Korean Republic invited members of different countries to participate in the annual major exercise for radiological incidents. Since Korea have 25 nuclear plants which raise risk factor for radiological incidents, IAEA coordinates with limited countries to invite certain counterparts for a scientific visit in Daejeon, Republic of Korea from 28th October 2019 to 1st November 2019 in presence of Dr. Huda Al Naemi, Middle East Federation of Organization of Medical Physicists (MEFOMP) President.
The exercise took place on 29th October 2019 where all the stakeholders played important role in the event. The scientific visit contained technical aspects related to understand the role of Medical Physicists and the multiple functions that may develop in preparedness and response to radiation emergencies as well as to understand how their knowledge can be applied to support the medical response. The scientific visit also focused on methods and application of training best practices. The visit included lectures, demonstrations, simulations, role play and practical sessions followed by discussions.
