Dr. Rabih Hammoud, MEFOMP Treasurer has been awarded the International Organization of Medical Physics (IOMP) International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) award for the year 2022. Dr. Hammoud was selected by Awards and Honor Committee in the IOMP to be awarded this year presenting MEFOMP region. The result was announced in the IOMP webinar held on 7 November 2022 by the IOMP President.
Dr. Rabih joined Hamad Medical Corporation with rich Academic and Clinical competency in 2008 as Senior Staff Physicist and later promoted as of Chief Oncology Physicist from 2010, which he stills holds. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medical Physics Research in Radiation Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar. As a chief Oncology Physicist, he is currently responsible for the clinical and organizational leadership of the Medical Physicist Section of Radiation Oncology.
Dr. Hammoud is an American Board-Certified Physicist and active member of Qatar Medical Physics Society and of various medical & scientific societies like ASTRO, AAPM, ESTRO. He is the member of Education & Training Committee (ETC), International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP). He is a Treasurer of the Middle East Federation of Organizations of Medical Physics (MEFOMP), an Auditor for the Quality Assurance Team for Radiation Oncology (QUATRO), an Examiner for the International Medical Physics Certification Board (IMPCB). Dr. Rabih is actively involved in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and has been twice the course Director in Doha.
He has been invited as Faculty & Speaker of various activities of HMC & other Medical Societies like AAPM, ASTRO & ESTRO and have also published numerous papers, book chapters & abstracts.
